First steps toward simplifying with agents and AI don’t need to be tricky.

Most firms don’t stumble on AI because it is hard. They stumble because they start with the whole office.

This week’s thought is the practical one. Three rules we learned putting agent colleagues to work inside regulated UK businesses, and none of them are tricky.

Pick one task. Choose a single job that eats admin time, and leave the rest of the office alone for now.

Write down the boundaries. Say what the AI colleague may do on its own, and what always stops for a person to sign off. That one page is the whole of your governance on day one, and it is the page a regulator will ask to see.

Run a two week trial on live work. Test it on real day to day work, inspect every output, and keep only what holds up.
