Thoughts / Capacity that gives back
Three discussions stood out this week, beyond the usual chat about how to trust anything you read any more on AI (especially on here) and plan for it to solve actual business problems.
First, two CEOs were saying broadly the same thing - "we think we're doing enough".
They're both running medium sized organisations (a council and a tech business) both have a handle on how their teams are using various GPTs as pilots, citing some actual productivity gains, and are now thinking about building some agents in house but uncertain yet about how that will shape up. That's the difficult bit but both are starting to look at first use cases (obviously not forgetting Rule Zero).
In the regulated space, the last conversation was with a team following a slightly different trajectory and slightly further ahead, who have run into a wall at Copilot.
Their particular regulator demands high levels of auditability so that had to be baked in from the start, and developing agents there has to take that into account as well as tightly controlled autonomy and data security. We're helping them with the operational / technical design and then build of what will be a secure, local system.
It's good to know that this work will be redirecting effort directly to public facing services, rather than replacing jobs entirely (following the path of the big Swedish furniture Co). As the economy shifts, hybrid AI operating models are helping small organisations adapt and survive.
Beyond that direct client project work, this of course continues to fund the foundations for free career planning and training.
